Dpaverify Docs

Welcome to Dpaverify

Kenya's verification API — identity, vehicle, tax, phone and business records in a single REST interface.

What is Dpaverify?

The Dpaverify API gives your application real-time access to authoritative Kenyan government and telco data sources through a single authenticated REST interface:

CategoryWhat you can check
IdentityNational ID / Alien ID / Passport (IPRS), Driving licence & PSV badge (NTSA)
VehicleRegistration records — make, model, owners, caveats (NTSA)
TaxKRA PIN registered to a national ID number
BusinessCompany and business-name records (BRS)
PhoneSafaricom number ownership, SIM swap history, age on network
BackgroundPolice clearance / certificate of good conduct (DCI)

How it works

Every verification is a single HTTP POST to /v1/verifications/{apiCode}. The API responds synchronously — you get the result in the same request, no webhooks required for standard checks.

POST /v1/verifications/identity.national-id
Authorization: Bearer dpv_live_••••••••••••

{ "idNumber": "12345678" }

Quick Start

Get your API key — Log in to the Dpaverify dashboard, go to Settings → API Keys, and generate a key. Test keys (dpv_test_...) return sandbox data for free; live keys (dpv_live_...) query real sources and are charged per call.

Make your first call — Run the national ID check against the sandbox:

curl https://api.dpaverify.com/v1/verifications/identity.national-id \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer dpv_test_••••••••••••" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"idNumber":"12345678"}'

Go live — Swap your test key for a live key and top up your wallet. All live checks are prepaid; a 402 means your wallet balance is too low.
